Elisabeth Cummings – S.H. Ervin Gallery (National Trust of Australia, NSW)

Last weekend I visited the Elisabeth Cummings exhibition at S.H. Ervin Gallery, at the National Trust of Australia (NSW). Cummings is an incredibly talented Australian artist who flies quietly under the radar, relatively unknown in comparison to her creative peers. The exhibition is a survey of 50 years of her work. The paintings are mostly landscapes, . . . → Read More: Elisabeth Cummings – S.H. Ervin Gallery (National Trust of Australia, NSW)

My vintage wedding cake

A friend of my husband, Savannah, made our wedding cake as a present for us. This incredibly talented lady runs her own cake business called Savvy Fare in Sydney, Australia. You can see more of her cakes on her Savvy Fare facebook page here.

I sent Savvy Fare examples of cakes that I liked (you can see . . . → Read More: My vintage wedding cake

My blue wedding shoes

While I was planning my wedding, I stumbled upon a photo of a woman wearing tiffany blue wedding shoes. I fell immediately in love with them and wanted a pair to accompany my 50s styled ballerina length wedding dress.

The problem was, finding a pair of size 11 tiffany blue, teal, turquoise, pale blue, aqua or any . . . → Read More: My blue wedding shoes

Vintage forest wedding

Some photos from my very own gorgeous wedding down at Lilyvale Homestead in the Royal National Park just south of Sydney. There was a misty light rain on the day – although you can’t see the rain in the photos. The wet air made the forest a magical bright green. A new stencil painting

Yesterday I lovingly placed a new stencil artwork in my office.

The artwork is titled ‘Game Face’ and is by Melbourne artists 23rd Key. The artist is also a roller derby player in the Victorian Roller Derby League. I’ve also met the girl in the painting – Kittie Von Krusher. A fiercely beautiful skater indeed.

23rd Keys won . . . → Read More: A new stencil painting

Today I dream of living here

Palm Beach – Photo by Louise Hawson

Today, a bleak and windy rainy day, I click on Louise Hawson’s blog ’52 Suburbs’ and my eye catches on this and I wonder.

Imagine living here?

Firstly I think of the party I will throw in a pink & white fifties frock. Then I think of a lazy afternoon . . . → Read More: Today I dream of living here

today I cheer myself up – 50s styled wedding cakes

It hasn’t been the easiest year, my dad passed away 7 weeks ago and another difficult challenge has presented itself to me. After a day spent freaking myself out with Dr Google, I decided to change tracks.

Time to cheer myself up. My wedding is on in less than 3 months. Today I think about wedding cakes. . . . → Read More: today I cheer myself up – 50s styled wedding cakes

A few things that I loved at the National Gallery, UK

Earlier in the year I visited the National Gallery in London.  I spent half the day trawling through the great halls of art, utterly in awe of the huge rooms, the atmosphere and the incredible scope of artworks.

It was by far my favourite gallery that I visited while in Europe. Today I stumbled upon the handwritten . . . → Read More: A few things that I loved at the National Gallery, UK

A favourite place

Newcastle Ocean Baths – one of my favourite places. A footpath from Scott Street leads you over a small mound of grass and dirt and as you reach the top of it, Newcastle Ocean baths appear below you. Nestled into the corner of the coast, the baths were carved into the earths . . . → Read More: A favourite place

A sense of place – The State Theatre

Recently I had the pleasure of working on a month long show at Sydney’s State Theatre. Built in 1929 in The Great Depression, in my eyes, it is Sydney’s most spectacular theatre. Even frequent visitors pause for moments to take in and be enchanted by the majestic cavern of gold, the marble staircase, the . . . → Read More: A sense of place – The State Theatre
